Technique™ Ceramic Dish

Use this shallow (15mm deep), rough-finished ceramic bowl together with a borax bar (not included; available separately) to create a flux slurry that you apply to protect sensitive areas of your workpiece against heat as you solder. To create the slurry, add a few to several drops of distilled water to the dish, then rub the bar carefully but vigorously against the concave bottom until you produce a paste-like slurry. Apply the flux to the piece using a small flux brush. The underside of the dish is smooth, flat and solid; if desired, the dish can be turned over to use the flat area as a soldering surface.
